Reviewer: –Krista, Savory Savings Website: http://www.savorysavings.com/waxelene-petroleum-jelly-alternative-review/ Recently petroleum jelly has come under fire for number of impurities found during the manufacturing. Some of these impurities are possibly carcinogenic and with the growing concerns of cancers, people are looking for alternatives to petroleum jelly to land on the more cautious side of things. Waxelene is an all-natural company that makes a beeswax-based petroleum jelly alternative. Each container of Waxelene contains just four ingredients: Organic Soybean Oil (non-GMO, non-hydrogenated), 100% natural Beeswax, Organic Rosemary Oil and 100% Natural Vitamin E Oil. I was offered a free jar of Waxelene to use and review – what a timely arrival since I was just looking for alternatives! What did I think? If you have read any of my reviews, you know that I am ingredient obsessed! I want to know what is in something and why it is in something. What is the value add? I am happy to share that Waxelene explains in detail on their site why each of the four ingredients appear in their product and why it is important to you! The Rosemary Oil is a natural preservative so they do not have to use synthetic ones, like parabans. As an added rosemary –bonus, it also acts as an anti-bacterial agent. I received my jar of Waxelene in the middle of a horrible cold that was giving me the worst red nose ever. Worse than having a Rudolph face, was that my nose hurt. If I touched it, sneezed, sniffled, tried to be Jeannie from I Dream of Jeannie – anything – I had that awful cold-sting shoot right up my nose, reminding me that I have blown my nose raw and no amount of “lotion” in my tissues was going to help. I used the Waxlene around my nostrils and the sides of my nose to create a protective barrier. I am SO glad I did! The next day my poor, raw nose was already on the mend and I could blow my nose again with fear of pain! I also used some of the Waxelene on a wicked hangnail and it helped keep the area moisturized and clear of other debris while it healed. The Verdict I love Waxelene petroleum jelly alternative! It works just as described and in fact, since I am comfortable with all of the ingredients, I am looking forward to coming up with more uses! Something else I really admire about Waxelene? They are a green company. The containers are made of recyclable glass with a metal lid that can also be recycled. Even the boxes they ship in are 100% post-consumer recycled – wow! And if all that were not enough, their facility is powered by wind power – how cool is that? I will definitely be using more of this in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking to replace petroleum jelly in their lives!
